These Booking Terms & Conditions simply explain how the booking process works and help ensure a smooth experience for everyone. They relate to the UNBLOCK Writing Retreat held 31 October – 7 November 2026 at Froomies Co-living, Cornwall, UK.

definitions

Organisers: UNBLOCK is hosted by Marie-Kristin Hofmann (School of Souls) & Sandra Gerstaedt, in collaboration with Froomies.
Participants: You, after your booking confirmation has been received.
Froomies: Froomies Limited, a company registered in the UK under number 16801574 with registered office Tredethick, Lostwithiel, PL22 0LE

1 booking

Your booking becomes confirmed once:

a) your application has been accepted,
b) full payment has been received,
c) and you receive a booking confirmation from the Organisers.

As places are limited, room reservations cannot be guaranteed until payment has been received.

2 payment

Full payment is required to secure your place.

All prices are listed in GBP and Euros. The payment is made in Euros.

Participants are responsible for any international bank transfer fees so that the full retreat amount is received.

3 cancellation by participant

Bookings are non-refundable because we commit to accommodation and planning costs as soon as you book your spot, but we get it, life happens. That's why you can TRANSFER your spot to a friend or fellow creative up to 7 DAYS before the retreat starts. Just send us an email with their name, contact details, their writing project and their social link. This transfer is subject to the Organisers’ approval.

4 cancellation by organiser

Should we need to cancel the retreat, we will let all Participants know at least 14 days before the start date. You will have the option of either:

a) a full refund.
b) a partial refund which will still allow you to still come to Froomies but without the facilitated retreat component. This will give you the opportunity to stay on the beautiful site, and maybe have a self-led retreat instead!

If the retreat is cancelled by the organisers due to illness, force majeure, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control, participants will receive a full refund of the retreat fee paid. The Organisers are not liable for travel costs, accommodation booked independently, visa costs, or any other consequential expenses. We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance.

5 accommodation

Accommodation is provided at Froomies, Cornwall. The full address is Tredethick Farm Cottages, Lostwithiel, PL22 0LE.

Participants will receive the room category selected during booking. Rooms will be allocated based on the room category booked. We are unable to confirm bookings for specific rooms.

Specific room decoration or layout may vary slightly from website photographs.

Participants will have access to the main retreat cottage, plus their own cottage, during the event. Access to the Farmhouse at Froomies is not included.

Participants are required to use the Froomies app for booking any additional swim, hot tub or sauna sessions (included within the cost, but sessions are subject to availability).

6 meals

UNBLOCK is a self-catered retreat.

Participants have access to fully equipped kitchens and are invited to participate in the community dinner rota.

Coffee and tea are included.

Participants are encouraged to make a grocery order online before arrival.

7 health & wellbeing

Participants take part in all retreat activities voluntarily and are responsible for their own health and wellbeing throughout the retreat.

Please inform us of any medical conditions, allergies or accessibility requirements before the retreat begins.

Participants are responsible for assessing their own physical and mental wellbeing before participating in the retreat.

Meditation and mindfulness sessions are intended to support personal wellbeing and self reflection. They do not replace medical, psychological or psychiatric treatment.

8 travel

Guests are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from Cornwall.

We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance covering cancellation, illness and personal belongings.

9 pets

Well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement, and must adhere to the Froomies Pet Policy while on site.

Please contact us before booking if you plan to bring a pet so we can allocate a suitable room. Guests remain responsible for their pet throughout the retreat.

10 community

UNBLOCK is intentionally small and community-focused.

We ask all guests to treat each other with kindness, respect and openness.

The organisers reserve the right to remove participants whose behaviour significantly disrupts the retreat experience or compromises the wellbeing of others.

11 photography

During the retreat, photographs and videos may occasionally be taken for future marketing purposes.

If you prefer not to appear in photos or videos, simply let us know before or during the retreat.

12 liability

Participants participate at their own risk.

The Organisers and Froomies are not liable for:

lost or stolen belongings
personal injury except where required by law
travel delays
events outside the organisers' reasonable control

13 force majeure

The Organisers and Froomies shall not be liable for cancellations or interruptions caused by circumstances beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, government restrictions, pandemics or severe weather.

14 governing law

These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by German law, unless mandatory consumer protection laws provide otherwise.

15 terms & conditions

By agreeing to these Terms & Conditions, you also agree to the Froomies Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.

In the event that the information in the Froomes Terms & Conditions contradicts the UNBLOCK Terms & Conditions, the UNBLOCK Terms & Conditions will prevail.

privacy

We collect and process your personal information solely for the purpose of administering your booking, communicating with you about the retreat, and ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience during UNBLOCK.

Where necessary, your information will be shared with Froomies for accommodation, check-in, community platform access (Froomies App) and retreat administration.

We will never sell your personal data to third parties.

For further information about how personal data is processed, including by Froomies as our accommodation and booking partner, please refer to the Froomies Privacy Policy and any additional privacy information provided by the organisers.
